Backflow Testing & Prevention
What is backflow?
Backflow is when water flows backward into the public water supply network. This is caused when water pressure drops in the water distribution system causing water to flow in the opposite direction.
Backflow is one of the biggest risks to the water supply. It is a potential source of contamination that can seriously affect the quality and safety of our drinking water.
IQP Annual Backflow Testing
Auckland Council require that as part of the annual Building Warrant Of Fitness (BWOF), all backflow prevention devices must be inspected and tested annually by an Independently Qualified Person (IQP). This applies to commercial buildings and also some residential buildings if they are deemed a “high or medium risk site”.
MCB Plumbing offer a reliable & professional Backflow Testing service in Auckland at competitive rates. For your annual Backflow Testing or if you are unsure of your obligations, talk to the experts at MCB.
NZ building code requires that every property owner must prevent backflow either by providing an adequate air gap or by using a backflow prevention device. Commercial properties are required to include backflow prevention as part of the Auckland council consent process.
